DIN 84 covers the dimensional requirements for slotted terminal screws. Reproduced below: the complete size table, the tolerance grades, and the companion and equivalent standards referenced when ordering to this document.
DIN 84 — Scope
DIN 84 specifies the dimensions and tolerances of slotted terminal screws. Material, property class, surface finish and packaging are governed by separate documents in the same standards family (for example ISO 898-1 for the mechanical property classes of bolts and screws).
Tolerance & Product Grades
DIN 84, alongside the related DIN 84 entries on this site, specifies product grades (typically A or B for fine work and C for general engineering) and tolerance classes for the controlling dimensions. Choose the grade against the precision your application requires.

| M3 | 0.5 | 5.5 | 2.0 | 0.8 | 1.2 | Brass CW614N | 4~25 | DIN 84 |
| M3.5 | 0.6 | 6.0 | 2.4 | 1.0 | 1.5 | Brass CW614N | 5~30 | DIN 84 |
| M4 | 0.7 | 7.0 | 2.6 | 1.2 | 1.6 | Brass CW614N | 5~35 | DIN 84 |
| M5 | 0.8 | 8.5 | 3.3 | 1.2 | 2.0 | Brass CW614N | 6~40 | DIN 84 |
| M6 | 1.0 | 10.0 | 3.9 | 1.6 | 2.4 | Brass CW614N | 8~50 | DIN 84 |
Equivalent Standards
Where direct equivalents exist (ISO ↔ DIN, ISO ↔ ASME), they are listed on the parent Slotted Terminal Screws page. Always confirm against the dimensions on this page, since some "equivalent" standards differ in tolerances and head geometry.
When to Specify DIN 84
DIN 84 is still widely used in European mechanical engineering and as a cross-reference on legacy drawings; its ISO equivalent is preferred for new designs.
